Estafeta becomes GLS partner in Mexico
The GLS Group has expanded its commitment on the American continent with a new partnership. From June 2019, Estafeta will deliver GLS consignments in Mexico and, in a second step, will feed parcels for Europe and North America into the GLS network.
Estafeta is the second-largest logistics, courier and parcel service provider in Mexico and covers the fifth-largest country in the Americas with an extensive network and over 6,500 employees. The company’s infrastructure includes three hubs and 57 depots. Six airplanes and 3,600 vehicles are deployed for transportation and delivery.
GLS customers in Europe and North America will benefit from the connection to the modern and high-performance network in Mexico, that complements the existing operation in the US and Canada. With North America and Europe, GLS connects the world’s biggest trade regions.
Distribute sustainable orders in a fair social environment: it is our commitment
GLS Portugal understands that making sustainable shipments must be contextualized in a society that has an active participation in the actions and services it develops. Customers, ONGs and other stakeholders are part of this environment in which we develop our transport and logistics activity. In our commitment to people and their internal development, 96% of the workforce is permanent, which guarantees the necessary stability to maintain and develop their professional wisdom.
Training and professional development
GLS is committed to the training and development of next generation employees with a substantial and practice-oriented vocational training. For existing employees, the GLS Group offers individual professional development opportunities and leadership openings.
Social activities
GLS uses its country-specific structures to promote selected initiatives in the respective areas. The GLS subsidiaries support various charity projects through national and regional activities.
Examples include but are not limited to free parcel transportation for charities, and sponsorships of foundations for people with mental or physical disabilities. On a local level, many GLS depots support kindergartens, schools, hospitals, hospices and other non-profit organizations financially.
Health and Safety campaign
In the GLS Group, we internally promote a Health and Safety campaign. It is an initiative that seeks to raise awareness and involve all GLS workers and collaborators to improve the rates of car accidents in each of the countries.
Compliance
GLS implemented in the entire group a program that aims to identify and avoid risks in terms of Compliance. In addition, it was designed to protect collaboration with business partners based on mutual trust.
At GLS Portugal we have been certified by DEKRA in the development of our activity based on our commitment to environmental management, quality and sustainable transport. Access the Certificates page and check our accredited stamps.
Our ThinkGreen program includes all the initiatives that we carry out, as a logistics and transport company, with the aim of protecting the environment in which we carry out our activity. Check the measures developed through this program.
